Jay Bednar

Training at around 200 pounds, Team MusclePharm member Jay Bednar began his bodybuilding journey at Iron Chamber Gym in Ohio. To give you an idea of the ICG way, the gym’s entrance is through an alley. Instead of some big flashy sign, the three letters ICG are unassumingly stenciled on the alley door. Passing by, one would never know that this is the gym that trains powerlifting and bodybuilding’s greats.

(Athletes like Rage like it that way. You don’t go to ICG to work out. ICG invites you to come in and work out.)

In high school, Jay made his mark winning First-Team All-Ohio Honors as a linebacker. He went on to play in college, but eventually bodybuilding was where Rage was going to make his mark. With a raw squat of 600 pounds and a 340 bench press, Rage hit the ground running and never looked back.

Throwing himself full-force into bodybuilding only made sense, since Jay is a former WNPF Teenage National Powerlifting champion.

For his first jump back into the competition scene, Jay entered the Men’s Open Heavyweight and went head-to-head with the big guys.

At the IPA Iron House Open, Jay posted a total of 2120 pounds—850-pound squat, 570-pound bench press and 700-pound deadlift—which brought Jay 2 IPA records. The greatness only continued, with Jay winning the Light Heavyweight class at the NPC Collegiate National Bodybuilding Championships.

Jay was crowned Overall Collegiate National Champion as well as National Light Heavyweight Champion for this 2008 event.

And the momentum is only growing.

These days Jay is training hard and making a living as a personal trainer.

His mark on the world of bodybuilding is just beginning.
